How the laser reduces redness
Blood carries oxyhaemoglobin, which absorbs certain laser wavelengths. The laser heats and closes the small, dilated vessels that cause persistent redness and flushing, and the body gradually reabsorbs them.
What laser can and cannot do
Laser reduces visible redness and vessels very effectively, but rosacea is a long-term condition. Triggers such as heat, sun, spicy food, alcohol and harsh skincare still matter, and some people also need prescription treatment for the bumps and flares.
Aftercare
- Cool the skin and avoid heat, hot yoga and saunas for 48 hours
- Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser
- Wear SPF 50 daily

Is rosacea laser permanent?
Treated vessels do not come back, but new ones can form over time, so some people have a top-up session once a year.
Can laser make rosacea worse?
When settings are appropriate it usually calms rosacea. Temporary swelling is common for a day or two.
Do I need to stop my rosacea medicine?
Usually not, but tell us about everything you use at the consultation.
