Key facts
| Light type | Both broad-spectrum pulsed light |
|---|---|
| Control | BBL more precise and powerful |
| Treats | Sun spots, redness, veins, acne |
| Sessions | Usually 3 to 5 |
| Downtime | Spots darken and flake for a week |
| Best on | Lighter, untanned skin |
How the light works
Both send pulses of light filtered to target pigment and blood vessels. Brown spots rise and flake away, and redness fades as small vessels close. The difference is in control: BBL adjusts wavelength, pulse and cooling more finely and treats larger areas evenly.
BBL programmes
- Forever Young: ageing and sun damage, with maintenance to slow visible ageing
- Forever Clear: active acne
- SkinTyte: infrared tightening
Who should avoid broadband light
Tanned or darker skin absorbs more of the light and is at risk of burns or pigment change. Pico or Nd:YAG lasers are safer choices, and melasma usually needs a different approach.
