How they differ
Both are lasers that target the pigment in the hair and disable the follicle, and both need 6 to 8 sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart. The gel diode is a separate diode machine used with a thin layer of cooling gel, which helps the handpiece glide over large areas and keeps the skin surface cool. The standard menu uses Smartitrion-Q and diode lasers, and the doctor chooses the laser and settings for your skin type.

Which one to choose
- Large body areas on a budget: the gel diode usually gives the lowest total, especially in a 6-session package.
- Face, small areas and beard shaping: the standard menu has the small-area prices and the most precise options.

Comfort
Most people feel a warm snap with either machine. The cooling gel makes the gel diode feel smooth over large areas; the standard lasers have built-in cooling. Neither needs numbing for most areas.
Before and after
